Lodestar’s True North

Coach Training

Taught BY Professionals FOR Professionals

Great coaching transcends knowledge and procedure.

It’s about developing awareness and insight, deepening our understanding of both self and others, and empowering and supporting clients toward true transformation and success.

For aspiring coaches, it is important to know that not all coaching methods - or coach development programs - are equally effective.

Whether you’re seeking a career shift or looking to enhance your current path, Lodestar’s True North Coach Training is the most comprehensive, experiential, leading-edge approach available.

Coaching is not therapy...and GREAT coaching can be incredibly therapeutic.

At Lodestar, we are the professionals we train. We know that great coaching is rooted in trauma-responsive engagement skills and attributes that disrupt toxic stress before it becomes embodied as harm. These skills create the conditions that allow clients to shift into creative engagement, problem solving, and planning.

We offer the only professional coach training accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) in which you will also meet or exceed all requirements needed to earn ACC certification from the International Coaching Federation.

Lodestar helps you develop the advanced coaching skills your clients need to navigate times such as these.

Lodestar trainings are industry standouts through our commitment to:

  1. Trauma-responsive skill development with engagement strategies that scaffold and support participants as they navigate both emotions and challenges.

  2. Evidence-based practices and coaching theories backed by research, neuroscience, and leading-edge communication and pedagogical strategies.

  3. Cultivation of presence through explicitly developing both-and (polarities) thinking as a discipline in order to navigate complexity, coach across difference, and generate sustainability.

  4. Emphasis on belonging through the intentional development of inclusion practices in coaching, exploration and appreciation for coaching differences.

In 6 months you will:

✓ Develop and practice the skills needed to be an exceptional professional coach

✓ Acquire advanced knowledge, awareness, and skills in Trauma-Responsive engagement

✓ Develop meaningful connections with a community of professionals as you learn

✓ Meet or exceed all requirements to earn ACC certification from the International Coaching Federation*

✓ Earn up to 68 AMA/PRA Category 1 CME Credits

Why International Coaching Federation Standards?

The International Coaching Federation was founded three decades ago to develop, assess, and codify coaching skills and ethical standards, and to support coaches and programs by ensuring reliability and quality.

Our commitment to this standard of quality is reflected in the structure, rigor, and external scaffolding of this course. Additionally, Lodestar's premiere coach training program is also accredited by the ACCME, offering up to 68 Category 1 AMA/PRA CME.

This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the accreditation requirements and policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) through the joint providership of Prairie/HSHS and Lodestar CEC. Prairie/HSHS is accredited by the ACCME to provide continuing medical education for physicians. Prairie/HSHS designates this educational activity for a maximum of 68.0 AMA PRA Category I Credits ™. Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Ready to Get Started?

  • In these opening days, you will cultivate a strong coaching mindset through group activities, reflection and active practice, setting the stage for deeper development. Day 1 builds a foundation in listening, self-awareness, and navigating stress in coaching. Day 2 deepens your emotional understanding, strengthens your trauma-responsive skills, and emphasizes trust and safety in the coaching relationship.

  • In these virtual sessions, you will refine your coaching approach through practice, reflection, and feedback. You will explore key polarities in coaching, such as balancing structure and flexibility, presence and preparation, and support and challenge. Through discussion and real-world application, you will deepen your self-awareness and refine your ability to navigate client needs with confidence and ethical clarity.

  • In both a group setting and individually with your assigned Mentor Coach, you will explore and apply ICF Core Competencies to live coaching and receive feedback about how you are integrating those competencies and Lodestar’s trauma-restorative frameworks into your coaching style. Mentor coaching is also a place to practice developing coaching agreements, maintaining client confidentiality, and implementing structures that support your development as an ethical and trauma-responsive coach.

  • Integrated throughout your remote sessions, you will complete individual self-guided learning in the form of reflective readings and pre-session prompts to deepen your knowledge of different coaching modalities.

  • In these small-group gatherings with your peers, you will discuss lessons, share accountability, and practice your coaching skills with one another. Learning Pods are a place to foster connection and active collaboration with your fellow coaches at the same time utilizing coaching frameworks learned in faculty-led sessions.

  • These final in-person days integrate past learning through feedback, trauma-restorative practices, and advanced coaching techniques. You will explore metaphor and imagery, practice how to deepen trust with your client, and refine your ability to center and decenter as a coach. The program concludes with reflection on personal growth, ethical practice, and next steps, ensuring a thoughtful transition into professional coaching and ongoing development.

  • After completing True North Coach Training you will continue practicing your learned skills through 100 total hours of client coaching. Upon completion of your 100 hours, you will be eligible to apply for your ACC credential from the International Coaching Federation and sit for your knowledge assessment. Note that you can begin accumulating these hours as soon as you have begun the program (Day 1 of the Opening In-Person Session).
